drama yesterday too.

i had a nagging backache starting at around 2pm yesterday during work, that escalated into a full-fledged acute pain around 4pm. it was difficult and super painful to just stand there with the sample bag they provided, so i smsed the promotions pple to ask if i could leave early. since if i couldnt even stand without support, HOW THE HELL do they expect me to walk up to customers and promote TISSUE. they refused to let me leave without providing mc. bear in mind that this was 4pm on a SUNDAY, and mother's day at that. if i were to find someone to gimme an mc, i'ld have to go A&E AGAIN and pay 70+ BUCKS, that was way more than the day's pay, not to mention the fact that i was in so much pain i'ld have to pay for the taxi fare there. so it seemed like a better option to just walk off like that and just forfeit the day's pay, it would be cheaper and i could at least rest at home. i was in so much pain that i was in tears in the middle of the ntuc and all the other promoters were wondering "wads the problem with you". i told the company wad i thought and they said that if i walked away just like that it was a breach of contract and i would only be paid half of the stipulated salary, meaning 4 days out of the 5 and a half(until 4pm) that i worked. super unfair since it wasnt that i didnt want to work the extra 4 more hrs to the end of the day, but that i was in so much pain that i just wasnt going to be able to. staying the extra 4 hours standing and working just wasnt possible at the state i was in. so on one hand, i faced forfeiting the one and a half days' work (meaning i worked that 12 HOURS SELLING TISSUE for nothing) and another, i had to see a doctor in A&E and pay 70+BUCKS (not including transport, which would be around 10+ BUCKS) to get an mc, which will not be reimbursed. which equals the same, money wise, unless option B was worse because i wouldnt be paid for the whole day, maybe. cos of the mc. please bear in mind that i was in tears and extreme pain and had to face this totally shitty situation. in the end i decided WAD THE HECK and just asked my dad to come and fetch me, so at least at the point of time i could still go home and rest, or lie down so the pain would lessen. the person on the company's side was furious that i left the place without informing them. *rolls a thousand eyes* they sent someone down to check. HELLO. I ALREADY TOLD YOU I WAS IN PAIN, ENOUGH TO MAKE ME CHOOSE TO FORFEIT TWO DAYS' WORTH OF PAY INSTEAD OF JUST STAYING THERE FOR AN EXTRA FEW HOURS. you would THINK that they would at least understand my circumstances. anyway yesterday my dad picked up the phone, so i was supposed to call them today to explain WHY I LEFT, IF IT WASNT SO OBVIOUS ALREADY. i havent, but anyway i think this means my employment term is discountinued. makes no difference to me, since selling tissue is not exactly the easiest and most enjoyable of jobs anyway. (just the day before i had to put up with some environmental unfriendly-shit from this angmoh woman who uses 100% virgin pulp toilet rolls anyway and bought and just had the desperate need to pick on something for close to 20mins. CONCERN ABOUT DISAPPEARING ORANGUTANS FROM BORNEO FORESTS MY FOOT.) the people from the company are the ones that desperately need people in their promotion. anyway the backache did lessen with the rest and now its just suan... i think its just overexertion of the muscles from all the heavy stocking work and standing 8 hours a day lugging a stupid bag. there was enough tissue in that bag to make it HEAVY, could you imagine. rah.
